Question Answer
Q: Please tell us a little bit about how your are volunteering and how we can help and assist you with your project? A: I want to help the people in our community with food for their families or pets as many people are out of work during this time. I have met several wonderful people on Next-door App who have helped me with this effort and it’s been so rewarding to see people smile when you help them.
Q: Please tell us about your current career. Thing you love most about what you do. A: I am a very small business owner and the name of my company is Pie in the Sky Promotional Products. I’m a distributor and work with hundreds of suppliers in the U.S. as well as several factories in China to source unique, customized items for my customers. I also sell screen printed t-shirts & embroidered apparel. Every day is different and while most of my customers are corporate clients, I also have smaller clients and I treat everyone the same. I consider myself “old school” when it comes to customer service and the reason why I’ve retained the same customers since starting my business over 11 years ago.
Q: What inspired you or led you to Volunteer in your community? A: I started volunteering at Pooches in Pines about 4.5 years ago & the organization’s main goal is to reunite dogs with their owners. Unfortunately, there are many times that we find dogs who have been dumped on the streets, tied to a tree in a desolate park–or starving and mistreated. We’ve found many dogs who are skin and bones but we have SO many success stories as we find the best adopters for all of our dogs! I want to make up for any animal who hasn’t been shown the love they deserve and will show them twice as much love to make up for what they never had! I’ve never been so passionate about anything in my life. Volunteering has truly changed me and made me a better person.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community? A: For Italian, I love Primo’s. It’s not fancy–they’re a mom and pop restaurant but they have the best Italian food and they’ve been around for many years! For Sushi, I like Silver Spoon Thai and Sushi. They have delicious & unique rolls..the lobster roll is the best!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community? A: I’ve lived here for over 23 years.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why? A: I went to Germany last year for 10 days and it wasn’t long enough. I love the beautiful castles, the countryside, the wine, people…it was such a fascinating place to visit.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows? What show are you binge watching right now? A: Bridesmaids is my very favorite movie ever & have probably seen it 10 times! For TV, I like exciting series…the type of shows that makes you want to run for your life! 🙂 I just finished binge watching Breaking Bad and OMG, I was running for my life…in my sleep! It was so exciting. I also like Homeland & The Ozarks.
Q: What advice would you give to people? A: Be kind. My mom taught me to pick out something nice about a person that you may come across and compliment them. You don’t have to be phony about it–simply tell them their makeup looks pretty–or their hair–or perhaps they were very nice to you–so point that out and tell them thank you. Being kind is easier than you think and not only will you make someone else feel good, YOU will feel good about seeing someone smile and making them feel special!
Q: What are something(s) on your bucket list? A: I’d love to get in my car with my husband and dog and drive all over the good old U.S. as there are so many places I haven’t been!
Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to A: ZZ Top
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community? A: Pooches in Pines is the place where my heart lives as I love animals so much. If I ever had to leave this area I would be the saddest about having to stop volunteering there.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch? A: Richard Branson who is a creative, forward thinking man with a big personality and it would be so exciting to meet him, on his new fabulous cruise ship!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community? A: I love living here because the people are friendlier in Broward County, no doubt about it! We have crime like everywhere else, but I really do feel safe where I live and that is very important to me.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years? A:  I see myself living further north, like Delray Beach or Boca Raton area.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you? A: I have my family’s lineage dating back to the 1500’s and a family crest!
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been? A: Costa Rica
Q: If you were cast in a movie and could choose your costar, who would it be? A: The Rock, silly. 🙂
Q: Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar? A: Christmas
